11 (Affordable) Travel Destinations Worth Visiting

Chile

When people think about visiting South America, Chile isn’t a place that comes to mind. But it should be. Chile has amazing beaches, beautiful vineyards, deserts, mountain ranges and a rich history you can dive into. You can also take a day trip to visit Easter Island where the Moai stone sculptures are found from there.

Tulum, Mexico

Most people go to Mexico for a week to party the house down, but there’s much more to the country than that. Meet Tulum, a small town known for its connection to nature. With its many cenotes, ruins and jungle tours, there’s always something to do in this quiet town. And did we mention how good (and cheap) the food is?

Eastern Europe

When someone says they’re going on a Euro trip, it’s often to countries like France, Spain, England and Italy. While there’s nothing wrong with that, the eastern side of the continent is almost always ignored, and it shouldn’t be. Croatia’s capital, Zagreb is a must-see, as are the cathedrals and monasteries in Bulgaria. If you’re in the area, be sure to visit. You won’t regret it.

Malawi

Most people don’t even know that Malawi is a country, but you should. Why? Because this underrated travel destination has everything you can even think to get out of an African vacation. There are elephants (lots of them), beautiful beaches, exotic foods and some of the friendliest locals you’ll ever meet. So, why not go there?

Slovenia

Instead of spending your money in Western Europe, center it a bit more and plan a stop in Slovenia. With its beautiful lakes, historic castles, ridiculously good food (add in some world-class chefs) and vineyards for wine-lovers, Slovenia has something to offer everyone.

Salta, Argentina

Salta is the capital city of the Salta Province in Argentina. It is well-known for its 18-century architecture which includes a number of beautiful churches that are sprinkled around the town. But more than that, this is a place that provides the most spectacular views of red rock valleys found in South America.

Congo

The Congo is one of those African countries that is forgotten because bigger countries tend to take center stage. And it’s really such a shame! With all its wildlife, a fun safari is really only a call away. There are also enough parks for every day of the week and a volcano whose glow you can observe from the top.

French Polynesia

Where in the world is French Polynesia? Think Bora Bora. Home to over 100 islands, of which almost 70 are inhabited, this group of tropical bits of land screams vacation vibes with its clear waters and beautiful white-sand beaches. The homes and hotels are for the most part affordable and the food is as fresh as it’ll ever come.

Uzbekistan

Uzbekistan is not a country that is on many bucket lists, but it should be. It’s in the Middle East and is just a short few hours, by plane, away from Europe. It is the home of the most beautiful tombs, in our opinion, but also has a once-bustling city turned ghost fishing town that you can visit. There are observatories, a stop that was once used on the Silk Road and palaces and prisons that are just waiting for you to visit. If you like a mixture of history, cool architecture and delicious and cheap food, this is the place to be.

Alberta, Canada

When people think about Canada, Alberta isn’t a place that immediately comes to mind. It’s usually an icy place, and one of the most gorgeous in the world. From the Banff National Park to the Athabasca Glacier, there’s no reason you shouldn’t be here if you don’t love snow.

Leon, Nicaragua

Leon is a quaint city in Nicaragua that is known for many things. It has great people and nightlife that’s just as entertaining. You won’t be restricted by the food choices when you’re down there and there’s so much to see and do. Be sure to visit the Museum of Traditions and Legends, the Telica Aquatic Park and the Calvary Church if you’re thinking about going.
